Ball & Burlap Varieties:

We Currently offer five varieties of conifers for digging.

Eastern White Pine: Pinaceae Pinus strobus

Needles:   3-5 inches soft, blue-green needles.
Height:   Maximum height over 100 feet.
Girth:   25-35 feet in diameter.
Light:   Prefers full sun.
pH:   4.5-6.5
Growth:   Fast growing (more than 18 in. annually slowing with age) and easy to transplant.  Makes a very nice landscape speciman.

Norway Spruce: Pinaceae Picea abies

Needles:   1/2 to 1 inch long stiff, dark green needles with sharp ends.
Height:   40-60' but can reach 100'.
Girth:   25-30 feet in diameter.
Light:   Partial Shade to full sun.
pH:   5.0-7.0
Growth:   Fastest growing of the spruce, growth is more than 18 in. annually. Easy to transplant. As the tree grows large the secondary branches begin to droop downward giving it a graceful appearance.

Blue Spruce: Pinaceae Picea pungens Engelm

Needles:   3/4-1 inch stiff, silvery blue needles with sharp ends.
Height:   75'
Girth:   20-30 feet in diameter.
Light:   Full Sun
pH:   5.5-7.8
Growth:   Slow growing less than 12 in. annually. Easy to transplant. As the tree grows large the branches tend to open up.

 

Canaan Fir: Pinaceae Abies balsamea var. phanerolepis

Needles:   3/4-1 1/2 inch blue to blue-green flattened needles.  Very similar to Fraser and Balsam Fir.
Height:   40'-55'
Girth:   20-25 feet in diameter.
Light:   Full Sun to partial shade
pH:   5.6-6.5
Growth:   Slow growing less than 12 in. annually. Fir most adaptable to non-indigenous soil environments.

Austrian Pine: Pinaceae Pinus nigra

Needles:   4-6 inches stiff, flexible and sharp pointed dark green needles.
Height:   50'-60' can reach up to 100'
Girth:   20-35 feet in diameter.
Light:   Full Sun
pH:   4.6-7.5
Growth:   12-18 inches annually.
