Goebel Farms has been providing
educational (farm) tours since 2002. We are pleased to continue
offering this service to the teachers and educators of the tri-state
area. Below you will find a brief explanation of what our tour
consists of.
Rules:
Upon arrival your kids will learn the
basic "do's and don'ts" while on the tour to ensure your child's safety
as well as for his/her maximum enjoyment.
Feed the Fish & Aquarium:
After the rules everyone heads to the
lake and our 405 gallon aquarium. While here your kids get a
chance to see the fish in the aquarium as well as throw some fish food
in the lake and watch them eat, much like a commercial fish farm.
Don't forget about AMOS! (Well
actually he wouldn't let you forget.) Your kids will enjoy our
chocolate lab as much as he enjoys them retrieving stick after stick
after stick... *(At your
request we can tie Amos up before your tour.)
Hayride:
Now it's time to take a hayride to the
pumpkin patch. Your kids will enjoy riding on a trailer with straw
bales as seats to the pumpkin patch. Once at the patch you will
learn all about pumpkins and how they are picked.
Corn Maze:
After learning about pumpkins your group
will be taken to the Corn Maze.
Here they will learn what a mature corn plant looks like and can have
some fun while walking around and around and around... We have a
larger maze as well as a smaller maze. Due
to time restraints your group will walk through the smaller maze.
Because most of our tour-goers are under age 10 we have made it very
easy to get in and out.
Christmas Trees:
While on the Hayride tour your group will
stop next to some of our growing Christmas trees and learn how they are
grown from seedlings to a full size tree, as well as the positive
environmental impacts every acre of trees have on the earth.
Free Gift:
As something they can take with them,
each child can choose between a small pumpkin or a gourd AND and ear of
Indian popcorn that really pops!
About Lunch:
While we don't provide lunch (or garbage
disposal) some groups choose to bring their lunch and have a picnic
before they leave. If you would like to have lunch while at the
farm just ask about it while reserving your date
and time.
Length, Cost and Misc. Info.
Tour length is usually 2-2.5 hours in
length, but can be shortened or lengthened to suit your needs, just ask
us when reserving your date and time. The cost of the tour is $6 per
person with ONE teacher per classroom free. Parents must pay. The minimum group
size is 25 paid children/adults. *If you are a home-schooler or
have a small group we can usually combine smaller groups together on a
mutual date and time or with a larger group that is not already full.
**For extra large groups we may need to split your group up in order to
fit everyone on the hayride trailer.
